Al -Ahly had faced three Qatari clubs in this tournament, namely Al -Sadd, Al -Rayyan and Al -Gharafa, two clubs from Iran, which are Independence and Persepolis, and two clubs from the Emirates, namely Al Ain and Al -Wasl, in addition to the Iraqi police, Thai Buriaram, and finally Al -Hilal and did not lose any confrontation from it, to reach the final of the first edition of the AFC Champions League in its new form.
