Netanyahu announces the restoration of the remains of an Israeli soldier killed in Lebanon

The statement said that the Israeli army and the Mossad intelligence apparatus were a special operation in which they regained the remains of the soldier Tsafica Feldman, who was killed in the battle of Sultan Yaqoub during the first Lebanon war.

The statement stressed that “decades have not stopped efforts to restore the body of Feldman and buried it in Israel, just as the body of the soldier Zakharia Boumel was restored 6 years ago.”

He added that “efforts are continuing to restore another missing body, belonging to the soldier, Juda Katz, who was killed in the same battle.”

The statement concluded by stressing that Israel “will continue to work for the habit of all its neighborhood and dead detainees.”

The Israeli army and Mossad said in a joint statement that the remains of the soldier were found in Syria.

The statement pointed out: “In a special operation led by the Israeli army and Mossad, the body of the first Sergeant Tsafika Feldman was found in Syria, and was returned to Israel.”

The Battle of Sultan Yaqoub in June 1982 took place between Syrian and Israeli forces, during which the latter suffered great losses and the families of 3 of its soldiers.

The battle bore the name of the village of Sultan Yaqoub, located in the Lebanese Bekaa, near the border with Syria.
