Electronic turmoil threatening navigation in the Middle East after the Israeli attack on Iran

Electronic ship systems in the Middle East witnessed a remarkable escalation in the levels of confusion, after the air strike that Israel carried out on Iran at dawn Friday, according to the Joint Center for Marine Information (JMIC).

The center explained in a recent notice that a number of ship operators reported that a wide electronic overlap in one of the world’s most oil -producing regions had occurred, which threatens the safety of maritime navigation.

The center called on ship operators to be careful, monitor their electronic systems and communication networks accurately, and prepare for alternative plans if navigation systems are disrupted or misleading signals.

It is noteworthy that the Joint Maritime Cooperation Center follows the joint navy, a coalition that includes 46 countries led by the United States, and works to secure navigation movement in the Middle East.

This development comes in light of the escalation of phenomena related to electronic confusion in the commercial shipping sector, which has emerged in particular after the outbreak of the Russian -Ukrainian war, and the increasing attacks on ships by the Houthi group in the Red Sea, adding more challenges to the safety of vital marine corridors.
