The American website Mondois shed light on the victory of Muslim politician Zahran Mamdani by nominating the Democratic Party for the New York mayor’s elections, and what this means for the influence of Israel and its central position in American politics.
Political advisor Peter Field said – in an interview with the site – that Mamdani’s victory for Palestine, who accused Israel of committing a genocide in Gaza “proved that Zionism is a tiger of paper in democratic politics.”

Omar goes to say that Palestine, which has always been one of the charged issues in American politics, is no longer stunned by those who are daring to go into.
At the same time, he explains that Mamdani did not present himself as a fierce opponent of Zionism, but rather managed a calculated electoral campaign during which he tried not to retract his support for Palestine and also dispel the concerns and suspicions of the liberal Zionist voters.

Mamdani, 33, has emerged to shake the democratic establishment by beating Andrew Como, the well -known name belonging to a prominent family in the history of the Democratic Party, which was the ruler of New York State.
It was noticeable that Mamdani was successful in sweeping his opponent – in the preliminary elections of the Democratic Party that took place on Tuesday – in a city representing American Jews as a large segment of its residents, despite its publicity of pro -Palestine and critical positions of Israel.
This victory came despite the efforts of prominent pressure groups, such as AIPAC, to pump money for his anti -advertising, and to stand the city’s major newspapers against him, and insist on every debate and an interview to clarify his position towards Israel.
