Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola believes that his team has changed a lot since returning from the last international stoppage period.
City achieved a fatal victory over Aston Villa 2-1 in the 34th round of the English Premier League, to achieve its fifth victory in the last 6 games since the resumption of the activity after the international stopping period in late March.
“I am very happy with the goal we scored at the end of the match, football is an emotional game. The players made incredible performance. I’m very happy,” Guardiola said in comments to Sky Sports.
“We are not accustomed to scoring in the deadly time, so I am very happy with what we have presented in the last 4 matches,” he added.
“Since the Bournemouth match in the FA Cup, the team has changed,” the Spanish coach continued.
City defeated Bournemouth in the cup and then Leicester City in the league, before drawing with his neighbor Manchester United, and defeated Crystal Palace, Everton and Aston Villa.
“In front of Aston Villa, we played very well. We fiercely in the bilateral confrontations, and the quadruple was amazing in all respects,” Pep said.
“The 1-1 tie was not a bad result, but the team struggled a lot. The performance was really great.”
“I must admit that we have presented a bad season. Even if we qualify for the final of the England Cup or qualify for the Champions League,” he continued.
He believes that “Aston Villa proved last month that it is one of the best teams in Europe.”
“Liverpool will be the champion of the league, and the level of the Premier League teams is great,” Guardiola concluded.
Winning Aston Villa near City is more than qualifying for the Champions League next season, with 4 games remaining until the end of the season.
The precious victory raised City’s balance to 61 points in third place.
The team became close to securing its place in the Champions League next season, among the top 5.
While Aston Villa’s balance was frozen at 57 points in seventh place.
Omar Marmoush participated in the full match and passed the ball from which Bernardo Silva scored the first goal.
Before Marcus Rashford quickly tied a penalty.
But the goal scored by Matius Nunez in the 94th minute scored the 3 points for City.
