Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on Hamas to release the hostages, abandon its responsibility for the Gaza Strip, hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, and to turn into a political party.
Abbas said in his speech during the opening of the 32nd session of the Palestinian Central Council in Ramallah on Wednesday: “Hamas gave the criminal occupation an excuse to commit its crimes in the Gaza Strip, most notably the hostage of the hostages. I am the one who pays the price, and our people are the ones who pay the price.”
Abbas indicated that the Palestinian leadership has set four priorities at this stage; It is “stopping the war on Gaza, withdrawing the Israeli army, lifting the siege on the Strip, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, preventing the displacement of the population and installing them on their land, protecting the Palestinian issue at the international level and working according to international legitimacy.”
He sent a harsh message to the Hamas movement, asking it to release the Israeli hostages they are holding.
Abbas stressed the need for Hamas to dialogue with the Palestinian Authority instead of the United States of America, saying that “the world is unjust and America is unjust.”
He added that “Hamas, since its coup against national legitimacy, has caused severe damage to the Palestinian cause, and the occupation provided free pretexts for its conspiracies and crimes in the West Bank and Gaza.”
He stressed that the Palestinians seek a fair peace, and demand their internationally recognized rights, stressing that acceptance of a state on 22 percent of the historic land of Palestine reflects their keenness on the political solution.
On the other hand, Bassem Naim, a leader in the Hamas movement and a member of its political office, was accused by the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, of “insulting a wide segment of the Palestinian people” and “continuing to violate the legitimacy of Palestinian national representation.” This came in response to Abbas’s statements during a meeting that Naim described as a “rapist of legitimacy”, as he claimed that Abbas used profanity against a large and original part of the Palestinians.
Naim asked in a publication on his official page whether Abbas, as “the engineer of the Oslo Agreement”, had contributed to the removal of excuses from Israel, “which enabled the occupation to continue the policies of Judaization and the annexation of lands, domination of the Al -Aqsa Mosque, and the committing systematic violations against the Palestinians in the West Bank, including the demolition of homes and the arrest of thousands”, to attempts to delete the Palestinian presence Finally, “according to what Naim wrote.
Naeem also accused Abbas of “repeating suspicious positions” in which the Palestinian people bear the responsibility of “occupation crimes”, considering that this approach “is compatible with the Israeli occupation’s account and the international accountability is dropped.” He stressed that such statements weaken the Palestinian position and dispersed the ranks, while the people need unity to face major challenges.
The Hamas movement had issued a statement earlier, in which it said that the Palestinian Central Council meeting at this critical time “could be a real opportunity to build a unified national position, to confront the genocide policies that the Zionist enemy continues against our people in the Gaza Strip, and the operations of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement in the West Bank and Jerusalem.”
The statement added that this meeting came more than a year and a half after the outbreak of the war, “and in a minus, it does not express the national consensus, and does not include all components of the Palestinian people.”
Hamas denies the presence of a delegation in Cairo
On the other hand, a leadership source in the Hamas movement denied to the BBC the news of the presence of a delegation of the movement in Cairo today to discuss what was said to be new ideas or an initiative to a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The leadership source added that “the date of the arrival of this delegation has not yet been determined.”
Several Egyptian and Palestinian sources reported on Tuesday, in the presence of a delegation from Hamas to Cairo to discuss a new initiative presented by the Egyptian and Qatari intermediary with a trial from 5 to 7 years between Israel and Hamas, according to which all the hostages are delivered, the ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israel from the Strip and its acceptance of an independent Palestinian administration to the Gaza Strip.
Another source close to the movement told the BBC that such a proposal “even if it was acceptable to the movement in principle, but Israel must be approved before the mediators officially proposed it to the movement.”
The close source expected that a delegation of the movement will attend the Cairo within days to discuss the negotiation file, without specifying any path that these negotiations will take.
On the other hand, the new American ambassador to Israel, Mike Hakapi, urged Hamas to accept a deal that guaranteed the release of the hostages in exchange for the introduction of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Hamas called for a “comprehensive agreement” to ensure the end of the war, rejecting the recent Israeli proposal, which includes a temporary truce to release the hostages with calls for disarmament of the Palestinian movement.
On Wednesday, Hamas released a video on her account on Telegram, for the hostage, my age, 48, in which he says that he is living in a difficult situation by his second birthday, which is “in the families of Hamas”, calling on the Israelis to come out with a “huge” demonstration in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house.
The prisoner affirmed that they live in a permanent fear because of the continuous shelling, and said that the government should reach an immediate deal in order not to return to their homes in tabbet, stressing that the military pressure does nothing but kill the prisoners.
He said that the “instant deal” is the only thing that can release the hostages.
Omri, Prime Minister and Minister of Strategic Affairs, approached Ron Dermer, and the Minister of National Security and Financial Security Etamar bin Ghafir and Bethlel Smotrich, saying that they are the reason for what happened on October 7, 2023.
The talks have not yet made any progress, since Israel resumed its air and land attack on March 18, ending two months a two -month ceasefire.

On the international level, Germany, France and Britain called on Israel to stop obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza, warning of “a severe danger of death and the spread of epidemics and death.”
“This must end. We urge Israel to resume the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza immediately, quickly and without obstacles to meet the needs of all civilians.”
In this context, the Israeli cabinet holds a meeting on Thursday to discuss the proposals of the Israeli army regarding the mechanism of distributing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.
The newspaper “Israel Hume” also reported that the Israeli army chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, was presented to the security and political cabinet on Tuesday evening, three main principles in the context of his dealings with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is to ensure that the situation in the Strip does not reach the stage of starvation and made the utmost efforts to prevent aid from reaching Hamas and emphasizing that the Israeli army will not directly distribute aid to the residents of Gaza.
On the other hand, the White House confirmed, on Tuesday, that there is no dispute between the United States and Israel, explaining that the phone call between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the Iranian file.
“I just spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on many topics, including trade, Iran, etc.,” Trump wrote on his account on the Truth Sushal website.
He added: “The call was very good, as we agree on all issues.”
Trump and Netanyahu had met at the White House two weeks ago.
Trump said he would not allow Hamas to rule by the Gaza Strip after stopping the war, confirming some progress on achieving peace in the Middle East.

On Wednesday, the Civil Defense Authority in Gaza announced that its crews had recovered charred bodies from a school that turned into a shelter for the displaced.

A Yemeni “vocal hyper” missile towards Israel
In parallel with the events in Gaza, the Israeli army announced, at dawn on Wednesday, that a missile was fired from Yemen towards the north of the country and “was likely to have successfully intercepted.”
In a statement, the army said that the warning stoves were pushed in Haifa and other areas in northern Israel to warn the population of this danger, noting that it “launched an objectionable missile towards the missile, which was likely to have successfully intercepted.”
He added that “the results of the objection are still under study.”
For his part, the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Sari, stated that the group carried out an attack on “a vital goal of the enemy in occupied Haifa with a sound missile.”
His statement added that the missile “reached its goal in Haifa, and the enemy systems failed to intercede,” which caused a state of fear and panic among the Israelis, according to the Houthis.
The Israeli ambulance announced that there were no reports of injuries, except for minor cases during the resources heading to the shelters.
Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October 2023, the Houthis launched missiles and aircraft running over Israel, as they describe it as solidarity with the Palestinians.
They also targeted ships who say it is related to Israel, while passing through the Red Sea, a vital waterway for global trade.
After their two -month ceasefire stopped, the Houthis threatened to resume the attacks on international shipping due to the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
In response, the US military has launched almost daily air strikes on the rebels, since March 15, in an attempt to prevent them from threatening the movement of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
