Argentine star Lionel Messi will be absent from his team, Inter Miami, against Pomas Onam, Mexican, in the American and Mexican Cup of Football Cup, due to a muscle problem, according to coach Javier Mascherano.
Messi, 38, had a slight muscle injury at the top of the right leg, while Inter Witness of the Mexican Nikaksa in the same tournament last Saturday.
Although there is no accurate date for the Argentine captain’s return, Mascherano stressed that he hopes to restore him soon, saying: “He usually recovers very well from injuries, and most importantly he does so quickly, so we will see. But it is clear that he will not be available tomorrow, and we will then see how he feels and improves.”
Messi, crowned the award for the best player in the world 8 times, has 18 goals in the domestic league this season, and he led Inter Miami to crown the title of the two links in 2023 shortly after joining the team.
It is likely that Inter Miami needs to beat Pomas to ensure qualification to the quarter -finals of the championship, giving Messi about two weeks to recover if his team reaches the elimination roles.
Inter Miami is playing his next in the domestic league on Sunday against Orlando.
